The concept of North-South Partnerships in higher education has been tackled by development agencies and scientists for almost 20 years. This engagement resulted in programmes, and initiatives for partnerships in higher education with universities from developing and transitions countries. IZB carries out research on how to make North-South partnerships successful so that universities of teacher education in both regions can achieve their aims with regard to internationalisation, global learning and intercultural education. This includes systematic reflection on the specific aspects, opportunities and challenges in partnerships with universities from the global South compared to partnerships with universities in the global North. On behalf of PH Zug, IZB is implementing PH Zug’s partnership with South East European University in Tetovo, Macedonia thus guaranteeing that different areas of activity are included in the partnership.
