Wood chips
The school building and the farmhouse on the Schluechthof are heated by means of chip heating. There is a plant with a capacity of 180 kilowatts (KW) available. With approx. 650 m3 of wood, a total of 220,000 kWh of heat energy is produced each year.

Solar Power System
At the Schluechthof and Chamau sites, a photovoltaic system of 30 kW each is installed, which converts solar energy into electricity. Together, they produce 60,000 KWh, which would supply about 20 single-family homes per year. The electricity produced is needed directly at the same location.

Biogas
The basic nutrient Bieag.ch in Hünenberg consists of manure, which comes from the surrounding farmers. The manure is pumped through an underground pipe system directly from the farmer to the biogas plant and back again. Also, the Chamau connected on this pipe network. The plant produces 3,440,000 kWh of energy in the form of heat and 2,817,000 kWh of electricity in the form of electricity each year. Together, this energy would suffice for one year for 2,085 single-family homes. The fermented substrate is subsequently returned to the nutrient cycle as the farmers reuse the fertilizer. Further information can be found at www.bieag.ch
