Teaching Practicum
Students can spend an exchange semester at PH Zug or do an intensive four-week internship at a Swiss or an international school in Canton Zug, while also attending courses at PH Zug. Students from our partner universities in Spain and Australia and former partners from the USA have been using this offer for years, and you can read about their experiences on the website.
The prerequisites for doing an internship vary slightly, depending on the requirements of the partner institute. In general, students spend 3-4 days a week at the school and 1-2 days at PH Zug. They can observe lessons, assist study groups and teach certain blocks of a course, with the support of a teacher there.
Language courses can also be provided on request. Furthermore, student buddies are there to assist visiting students and will take them on excursions in the region. Although PH Zug arranges for accommodations with a guest family, visiting students must generally cover the cost themselves.
«Coming to Zug has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. As for the goals and professional benefit of this experience, they have exceeded my expectations in a very positive way. Mainly, my learning aim at the school was discovering how to apply new methodologies and knowing new resources/activities to carry out in my future class. Moreover, I have been able to analyze how those methods affect the level of development in the students, and what attitudes or values teachers have when teaching.»
