Partner Communities
Partner communities/twin towns
At the local community meeting on 14 December 1998 it was decided that Hünenberg should join the Swiss Council of European Communities and Regions. The council was empowered to enter into a partnership with an appropriate town or community. In 2004, the first such partnership was established with the Slovakian town Banska Stiavnica. The council always stressed the importance of a partnership with a community in the French-speaking part of Switzerland and in October/November 2012, a partnership contract was signed with the community of Marly in the Canton of Freiburg.
Here you can find out more about the partnerships with Banska Stiavnica and Marly FR.
Sculptures for the partner communities

The partner communities' square was officially opened on 13 May 2017. This acts as a meeting point and as a sign of the relationships to the two partner communities, Banska Stiavnica (Slovakia) and Marly FR. An eye-catching sculpture of 4 people marks the square.
