It is one goal of the Zug education policy to enable pupils from poorer backgrounds to pursue their studies further. However, they must be Swiss nationals. Students from other countries may apply but must have attended an educational establishment in Switzerland for at least 5 years without interruption. Refugees or stateless people with a right to asylum in Switzerland or who have a residence permit to stay in the canton may also apply for a grant.
