Demography
Current forecasts show that the number of old people in the canton is set to double between the years of 2010 and 2030. It is the duty of those in responsible positions in society and politics to ensure good framework conditions are set up and developed for the ageing popluation. For the most part it is the duty of the individual municipalities to implement appropriate policies for the older generation. This is done with support from the canton, who provide new impulses to promote good health in old people and in looking at new types of accommodation for them.

Retirement and Pensions
When you retire, you start out on a new stage in your life. This change from professional life to retirement often entails geographical changes, too. Some Swiss senior citizens emigrate and see out their days abroad, and foreign nationals who originally came to Switzerland as immigrants also face the question of where they want to spend their retirement.
