Death

Any death in Switzerland must be reported to the approriate register office, which records it in the civil status register and issues a death certificate. When a death occurs at home, a doctor should be called immediately to establish death formally. In addition, any death must be reported within two days to the register office of the place where the death occurred. When notifying the register office of a death, the following documents must be submitted: death certificate drawn up by a doctor as well as an identity paper of the person reporting the death.
