If your marriage or civil partnership has failed and divorce or annulment is unavoidable, you should contact the Cantonal Court (Kantonsgericht) and file a joint application for divorce. If one of the parties does not agree to divorce, he or she should request the Court to instigate marriage protection measures. This procedure is actually the first step towards separation and divorce.
