Commercial education centre Zug (Kaufmännisches Bildungszentrum Zug, KBZ)

The commercial education centre KBZ in Zug is responsible for the theoretical part of the basic vocational education and training programme for commercial professions with Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (3 years) and Federal Certificate of Vocational Education and Training ( 2 years), in particular for office assistants, retail assistants and retail specialists. It is also responsible for further-going commercial education and training.

Apprenticeships

Students are prepared for their profession by means of an apprenticeship lasting three years and, the professional degree is the Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training. Besides on-the-job training, they attend school for job-related and general education subjects and physical education lessons. A two-year basic course is concluded with the Federal Certificate of Vocational Education and Training.

Federal vocational baccalaureate (Berufsmatura)

A federal vocational baccalaureate entitles the holder to study at universities of applied sciences without an admission exam. When combined with an apprenticeship, the baccalaureate Programme lasts for three years. The part-time federal vocational baccalaureate takes two years and the fulltime federal vocational education one year. The federal vocational baccalaureate entitles students to enter the appropriate university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) without having to sit an entrance test.

In the field of continuing vocational education and training, the KBZ houses the commercial school Handelsschule edupool.ch, and runs preparatory courses for Federal specialist and diploma exams (eidgenössische Fach- und Diplomprüfungen), post-diploma programmes and various continuing education and training courses.

Affiliated to the KBZ is the professional business education and training college (Höhere Fachschule für Wirtschaft HFW).
