Buying

Buying

The law restricts the acquisition of real estate in Switzerland by foreigners, by foreign-based companies and by Swiss-based companies controlled by foreigners. Lex Koller

Legal Registration: The purchase of a property becomes valid once the owner is registered at the Land Registry. The purchase fees depend on the price (Notary and registration fee). By Power of Attorney, the future owner entrusts the appointed notary's office with the duty of ensuring that all the legal formalities are adhered to, particularly the registration of the deed in the Land Register and releasing the acquired property from any previous mortgage.

A public notary will act for both the purchaser and the vendor. Link to list of public notaries in Zug.
