Switzerland’s immigration policy makes a clear distinction between two categories of people, citizens of EU and EFTA countries and citizens of non-EU /EFTA countries. The Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons (AFMP) greatly facilitates entering and staying in Switzerland for EU and EFTA citizens, while conditions are more restrictive for citizens of non-EU/EFTA countries.
