Maternity Compensation
Mothers receive compensation for up to 14 weeks after giving birth if they were employed during five months within the last nine months prior to the birth. www.akzug.ch - German 

The Canton of Zug provides financial support to mothers of low income on maternity leave if they need it and subject to certain conditions. www.zg.ch/alk - German

Family Allowances
In the Canton of Zug family allowances amounts to CHF 300 per month for children under 16, for children still in education CHF 300 per month (if aged 17 or 18) or CHF 350 per month (if 19 or over) until the end of their education but not after the age of 25. Registration must be made through the employer.

In addition to those in gainful employment, those people not working who find themselves in strained economic circumstances may also claim for child benefit or support for further training.
